Untold Pathways

In last month’s blog, we talked about shifting from the comfort zone and having conversations that lead to change. This month, we go a step further and explore the untold, unspoken pathways. The fact is, there are pathways to success and we spend our lives trying to find them. Hidden capabilities are revealed to those who try out things to find out. This involves taking risks, plunging into the deep when everyone else says ‘it’s impossible’, ‘crazy’, ‘unheard of’, ‘never been done before’….the list goes on.

At Konza, we put it plainly to our clients –  an initiative that is managed well could bring about untold pathways to success in ways you haven’t even vocalized yet. We all have untold pathways be it in our careers, businesses and relationships.

Could there be a successful pathway that you are unware of? What is it that you are yet to vocalize in your future? Does it have to take a risky decision to discover such a path? Will it involve troubled waters as you venture into the unknown territories in your effort to grow your business, change careers and relationships? Even if the answer is YES in all these scenarios, the goal must be to feel the fear and STEP OUT ANYWAY!!

Susan Jeffers, in her book “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway” says some people feel like the proverbial donkey between two bales of hay – unable to decide which one they want, and, in the meantime starving to death. The problem is what we have been taught “be careful, you might make the wrong decision”. So we are afraid that the wrong decision will deprive us of something – money, friends, status, or whatever the right decision is supposed to bring us.

One of the things we guide our clients about at Konza is decision making. If we have to make progress in ‘fixing’ a problem, a decision to make a change in your career or business is an important step in the right direction. When you are standing at the threshold of a decision, lamenting and obsessing, ‘should I do this or should I do that? What if I go this way and that happens? What if it doesn’t work out the way I plan? The ‘what ifs’ are in full force, the internal chatterbox is at it again. You look at the unknown and try to predict the future; you try to take control of outside forces. Both are impossible. After a decision is made, you constantly reassess the situation, hoping you did not make a mistake. In short, you waste valuable energy, making yourself very miserable.

Alternatively, consider decision A and decision B as simply two paths, both of which are right. These paths are opportunities to experience life in a new way, to learn and grow, to find out who you are and who you would really like to be and what you would like to do in this life. Each path is strewn with opportunities, despite the outcome. Yes, despite the outcome!!

The knowledge that you can handle anything that comes your way is the key to allowing yourself to take healthy, life-affirming risks – Jeffers. Beyond horizons await untold treasures for those who seek them out.

We encourage you to make strides in 2018, to decide on pursuing untold, unspoken pathways. Take the leap! Enjoy the journey :-).
